NĀ MEA 'OIHANA

Nā Mea `Oihana: Services

Hoʻōla Music and Cultural Arts provides mentorship to Hawai`'i's youth by teaching them Hawaiian Values through Hawaiian Culture, Stories, Art and Education. Below you will find the services offered.

Hoʻōla Music and Cultural Arts Sessions:

Hoʻōla is a music mentorship program for youth ages 7-18. In our program, students experience traditional Hawaiian values modeled by our kupuna, and through this, the lives of our haumāna are enriched.

We do this by teaching mo'olelo (stories) mele (song), ukulele, and haku mele (song writing). Our goal is to strengthen the heart of each child by connecting them back to the roots of our kupuna. Each 12-week session ends with a Ho'ike(show) to close out.

Papa Leo/Vocal Lessons:

Papa Leo focuses on vocal instruction. During papa leo, we teach the basics of singing, finding and staying on pitch, breathing exercises, and vocal technique. Each lesson is 45-60 minutes, including vocal warm-ups and practicing technique through song. Papa Leo can be individual or with groups up to 6. Prices Vary.

*Virtual Lessons Available

Papa Haku Mele/Songwriting:

In Papa Haku Mele program/curriculum, you will explore songwriting through Hawaiian Values. Each week we will focus on new topics and learn how to write mele (songs) from each of those topics.

Each section is 6 weeks long and can be with a group up to 10 people.

Individual lessons available upon request.

Classes are held in person and virtually.
