Kau'ionālani Mead

Founder and Director of Hoʻōla Music and Cultural Arts

Kauʻi was born and raised in Hawaiʻi and grew up in her family home in Mānoa. A graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy, Kauʻi pursued her Music degree from the University of Hawaiʻi in Mānoa, graduating with her Bachelor's of Music with an emphasis in voice. With her love for music and Hawaiian Culture, Kauʻi's path took her into Education and teaching keiki throughout the state of Hawaiʻi in various capacities. Some of these being a music teacher at Wa'olani Judd Nazarene, a Hawaiian Studies teacher at Voyager Public Charter School and most recently, running Ho'ōla at Nanakuli Boys and Girls Club. Because of this, she went back to the University of Hawaiʻi to get her Master's Degree in Educational Foundations focusing on Multicultural Education. Along this journey, Kauʻi's love for teaching grew and she was provided with opportunities to meet many influential people who helped her become the person that she is today. Kauʻi's strength is seeing the best in everyone and drawing it out of them. She lives her faith out loud and loves when people are free to be everything they were designed to be. In 2016, Kauʻi created Hoʻōla Music and Cultural Arts, a non-profit that has many different avenues to explore. Her desire is to make Hawaiʻi great by providing different music and education programs, such as songwriting and 'ukulele, in every community and reaching one child at a time.
